What is microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatment that will give you a healthy glowing complexion and helps make your skin look younger without the costs and risks related to cosmetic surgery and other types of invasive treatments. Microdermabrasion is an exfoliating treatment that consists in removing the top layers of dead skin cells of the epidermis (top layers of the skin). It is based on mechanical action and does not use chemicals or laser. It is an alternative to chemical peeling and its efficiency is increased by using suitable after treatment cosmetic products. It is most frequently used to treat the face but works also perfectly on other areas of the body such as the neck, chest or other areas of the skin. It does not require any preparation before treatment and the results are immediately visible. We use the latest microdermabrasion/peeling technology
At our Kensignton Skincare beauty salon in London St James’s / Victoria we provide microdermabrasion treatments using the CACI Chroma Clear system, which is one of the most technologically advanced microdermabrasion or mechanical peeling systems. It actually combines five treatment technologies including, vacuum suction, red and blue light photo stimulation, vibratory massage and a new form of microdermabrasion called Microdermo Percussion. This new form of microdermabrasion is painless and produces very little skin irritation compared to other more traditional and abrasive systems of microdermabrasion using aluminium oxide crystals. The CACI Chroma Clear machine uses quartz silica microspheres which are propelled onto the skin as a peeling method to gently and safely remove the dead skin cells of the top layers of your skin. This is combined with a vacuum suction action to help with circulation and wash away the removed skin cells. It is manufactured by CACI International, probably the UK’s most reputable manufacturers of beauty and aesthetics instruments. Our beauty therapists who provide microdermabrasion treatments are all fully qualified and have followed special training for the provision of microdermabrasion using the CACI machine. The use of the latest technology by suitably trained skin care specialists allows for a controlled and safe exfoliation and an enjoyable experience. How can microdermabrasion help you?
From the age of 25 onwards the turnover of surface skin cells slows down as the rate at which dead skin cells are replaced slows down. Removing by exfoliation several of the most superficial layers of the skin removed dead skin from the epidermis and has the effect of leaving the skin fresh, smooth and more even looking. By its smoothing action Microdermabrasion can help decrease the appearance of superficial skin defects and age related skin signs such as some types of age related pigmentation, photo-damage. It can also help diminish the appearance of fine lines and fine wrinkles, and even out the texture of acne scars. Removing layers of dead skin also stimulates the lower layers of the skin to improve the skin’s health generally and leaves the skin in a better condition to receive skin care products and makes the application of make-up easier. Microdermabrasion is particularly beneficial for the following skin conditions:
Is microdermabrasion suitable for any skin types?
Yes, microdermabrasion is generally suitable for all skin types, including, oily, acne prone, dry and combinations skins, of all ages and for both men and women. We will always go through a consultation before your first treatment to ensure you don’t have any counter indications to microdermabrasion such as sun burnt skin or open wounds. As microdermabrasion removes layers of dead cells it may cause slight and temporary redness in the hours following the treatment. How many microdermabrasion treatments will you need?
We recommend to start with at least a course of 6 sessions of microdermabrasion with one session every one to two weeks. To maintain the effects it is advisable to carry on having regular microdermabrasion sessions every 4 to 8 weeks after the first course. The same interval is advisable for prevention treatments. More information about the CACI Chroma Clear microdermabrasion system
CACI Chroma Clear is a new non-invasive microdermabrasion treatment system designed to treat face and body imperfections such as acne / blemishes, scar tissue, wrinkles and stretch marks.Chroma Clear combines five treatment technologies within one state of the art system. Utilizing vacuum suction, red and blue LED Light Therapy Photo stimulation and vibratory massage with a new method of skin peeling called Microdermo Percussion the system represents a significant advancement over traditional microdermabrasion systems. Microdermo Percussion, is a painless peeling method that produces very little redness or irritation. Microdermo Percussion uses perfectly round quartz silica microspheres, which instead of scraping the skin like the traditional aluminium oxide crystals (corundum powder) gently exfoliate by producing a rapid tapping action as they are propelled onto the skin. The spherical nature of the quartz silica microspheres means that they are less harsh on the skin than the jagged shape of aluminium oxide crystals and accordingly the spherical shape also eliminates the potential for machine blockages (common with traditional microdermabrasion systems). The quartz silica microspheres are also a much finer and smaller micron grade than aluminium oxide crystals so can be used safely on very delicate areas for a gentle exfoliation. Blue LED Light Therapy is applied after the skin peeling treatment together with a special soothing gel mask to hydrate, soothe and calm the skin. A combination of Red and Blue LED Light Therapy is particularly effective on acne blemished skin.
